Thank you for the reply and sorry for making the thread in wrong place... I was looking for technical assistance forum but couldn't find it! Never realised it was just right below general lol.. sorry about that.
Windows vista was reinstalled not long time ago and it's absolutely clean and shouldn't have any garbage on it... as I'm using Linux. The wireless connection is secure
I had the router off for a week or so a week ago (as I went on a trip) I have tried doing that in the past, never solved the problem.
I couldn't know exactly how often I get disconnected, but later tonight I'll go play LFS a bit more and note how often it happens.
But as far as I remember it'd be between couple minutes to 10-20 minutes or so... Basically... I could often have trouble finishing the race what really gets on my nerves and get disconnected in the middle of a race
Well of course it takes time to gain skills in this game and get used to driving like a crazy man... but you shouldn't be having trouble with the actual controller (wheel in this case). It's just gonna be a matter of experience in racing in the actual game I think..
Welcome to the forum Well personally I don't think it will take anything to get used to a wheel as it is sort of.. the most natural way of controlling a car, I assume? Unless you don't drive in the real world and you're planning on using the clutch + shifter properly ? What should take some time to get used to... (If you'll be getting G25 or something like that) ...
I think it takes longer to get used to gamepad/mouse as it is a more unusual way of controlling.
But if it's just a wheel with up/down shifter.. + throttle and brakes I don't think it would take any time getting used to that?
But you're still sad enough to come on the forum and read threads... Nothing stops you from having a life and still having a go at LFS time after time.
Yep I would definitely agree that it'd be really appreciated if there was an update on the official LFS website explaining why it has taken a bit longer than expected or whatever.
But obviously... Scawen isn't partying 24/7 and not doing any work on LFS, so I'm not really that bothered
Well life's unfair ; ) Gotta get used to it... Personally I don't really mind it being postponed as long as official statement is made and couple reasons given why so.
Didn't someone mention that they were working on the physics engine att he moment? Therefore being the reason for quite a long delay? As I assume it would be pointless to release a new car, and then have to work on it again after making changes to the physics engine?
I have thought of that, but I'm not gonna shift with the mouse, I've tried and did not like it... + I tend to use mouse buttons for horn + flashlights ; )
And yeah.. I think it would be rather uncomfortable lol
Thanks for the addition of the picture, the amount of space it'd would take on teh table I don't think would be a problem, as I can move they keyboard otu of the way and so on. Could someone measure and tell me how much space the wheel takes with the shifter lengthwise ?
Sorry about not giving a good enough description, the thing is that I posted this after turning off LFS and gonig back to Linux... so couldn't remember exactly what it said. But I'm pretty sure it said "Connection lost" [to the host] ...
Internet connection is not shared, the PC I'm using is directly connected to the wireless modem... which then is connected to the phone socket! So I assume it'd be correct to say it's cable connection?
Never had problems with streaming videos or anything, as I said I don't usually.. well pretty much ever lose connection... So I'd say it's a bit unusual and shouldn't happen. And can't tell about other games as I don't play them, LFS is the only one I ever play... : )
Since I was really bored... decided to play LFS a little bit after many months of not doing so...
First of all I ran it on Linux, using wine... played on it for a while, had no trouble with connection whatsoever... then I switched the OS to windows as the FPS was way too low... But then time from time I got disconnected... with LFS saying "Connection lost" or something like that...
Has anyone got an idea how I could solve this problem? I don't really think that I've lost connection... a I had no problems with it on Linux... and I remember loosing connection loads in the past what lead to eventually giving up on online racing :/
Thanks *By the way my avatar is misleading, I'm actually developmentally delayed with insufficient amount of braincells!*
I did play with the settings a bit, but I meant the deadzones on the gamepad itself. As the controllers always "comeback" to the center, therefore the centre isn't as responsive as 'fine steering' with mouse.
Yep, definitely, that's what the binoculars are used for!
Well so far I've been struggling with the game pad, mainly because there's some sort of "death zone" at the center point of the joystick which is a bit annoying if you're trying to be really precise... probably that made no sense :/
Anyone who owns G25 could tell me whether there would be space for me and the wheel?
Straight to the point.. I got mouse and not long time ago bought a gamepad as well.
I am comfortable with mouse and got no problems with it... but that means I can't control throttle properly what can be an issue when it comes to powerful cars, or simply trying to get the maximum out of the car in corners or wherever.
So my question would be whether I should try and get used to using game pad with which I can control throttle quite precisely but it seems like steering is tricky.. and I'm not sure if it's because I'm not used to it or if it's just not as good as using mouse for steering?
When I toggle between fullscreen in LFS (Shift + F4) it still stays windowed technically. And just switches between full and windowed inside the Wine window... Rather than properly.
